Moving birds interstate is made a lot easier as long as a few steps are followed before they travel.
Here are some suggestions that will make the transfer smoother.
Most birds will need a permit to go into Western Australia. Any exotic birds that require a permit in their existing home state must have a permit in the State to which they are travelling. We will need a copy of the permits.
Birds in normal cages can be transported in their usual cages. The cage should be cleaned before they are collected.
The water container needs to be 1/2 full and the seed containers 3/4 full.
Leave all their normal toys in and do not introduce anything new into the cage just prior to travel.
Small cages can be supplied for birds that are usually kept in aviaries.
We will secure all doors and trays. Prior to their flight the cage is placed into a cardboard base, this helps balance the cate whilst on the plane.
Birds and hot weather do not mix! If you are travelling to a warmer climate, or during summer, the birds MUST travel on early morning flights. Once they arrive, make sure that there is an area where they can be kept cool, but not in direct line of an air conditioner.
